Core drilling machines developed by APS GmbH are dedicated to the preparation of high-quality samples from uniform and non-uniform materials like rocks, concrete, asphalt or other materials. As the quality of the cut surfaces has a major influence on the test results, the coring process is performed in a rigid frame and under well controlled conditions. Resulting cores are smooth and free of surface grooves.
Devices are powered by a selection of high-end electric motors with up to four-speed gearboxes to provide high torque drilling capability throughout the drilling speed range. The simplicity of changing gears via the mechanical switch provides quick and reliable adjustment according to the specifications of corers in use.
An additional drive system enables a stepless control over the drill feed rate in a range of 0.01 to 1.00 mm/s. version also an additional information about the torque is available to fine tune the feed rate for more sensitive samples.
A stiff and rigid frame construction and the use of square linear rail bearings, along with the high torque capability of the drilling motor, greatly compensate dynamic deformation and vibration. These features enable the core drilling machine to maintain speed and smooth operation under loading.
A stainless-steel, full plate sample holder has been designed with robustness in mind but without sacrificing user friendliness. The casing can be easily moved forward along extending high load rails for loading and unloading operation without any need of mounting and dismounting the drill. A modular design of the sample holder allows also for simplified upgrades with additional features like an X-Y table for easier positioning of samples or a standardised stainless-steel T-Slot plate for higher flexibility in fixing samples with multiple gripping adapters.
Addressing the issue of high water consumption for the cooling of diamond bits, devices can be upgraded with a close loop water circulation system for more environmentally friendly operation.
In standard applications the machine may use water or other non-aggressive and non-flammable liquids as drilling fluids. Optionally, the device can be adjusted to operations under in-situ or ambient conditions with other fluids like brines, oils, acids or bases.
